Ramu and the Pandemic Outbreak

A threat like situation was created in the whole village because there was a fear of being infected by the very contagious COVID-19 which was killing each and everyone from inside. According to the villagers, their mental health as well as the physical health were in risk due to this unwanted abroad living guy. Everyone was staying away from his family. Despite they called the police and sent the boy to quarantine, still they were unhappy because they thought that his family must have been infected by that particular disease.

All these things were going on without thinking about the all possible situations. The people were just thinking everything randomly and superstition was prevailing everywhere. The level of disbelief was forcing the villagers to enforce the potter family to leave the village for an uncertain period.

Everything was happening all of a sudden and the potter family couldn’t predict all these things. So what was the story ?? Why all these things were happening like this ???
Desperation came to an end and everything was going well after a very long period. Yes, he was anxious to return to India but not like this. He wanted to earn a handsome amount of money there so that his family will have a very brighter future but everything was in vein.

Finally, Ramu was returning home from Qatar leaving all aspirations behind. Actually, such type of situations were created which compelled him to return to his motherland forcibly by his conscience to support his family.

Ramu belongs to a lower middle class family in Srirampur village which is situated in a very remote area surrounded with high hills and forests. He is the only son of his parents having 2 elder sisters and one younger sister. He is the only guy in his family who earns to provide bread, cloth and shelter to his family .
The economical condition of his family was not good. His father, Damu is a potter and due to his old age, he is not able to earn money and including this, the demand for pots and other related things in the market has drastically decreased. For which ,the pots are sold rarely and the earning from this selling was not sufficient at all for the livelihood of the entire family.

Like his father, he could have accepted the job of a potter as a true offspring of his father but he didn’t because his father told him not to do that job as the job of a potter was no more respectful and a good livelihood couldn’t be earned through this job. Neither the job nor the earning from it is good no more.

He had not studied in a very reputed school. He was not a scholar from a good university. Neither he had the resources nor he had the courage to gather resources to study. He was just a village boy who was ignored by all and was never persuaded to study.

Neither of his sisters were married. His parents were unable to get her married due to the lack of money. Now a days, most of the people are taking dowry and his family was unable to give that. For some days, he worked as a labor in local ventures but nothing could change his life. There is a folk tale which says that the sweat is the measurement of his hard work. But the hard work in the village was not going to change his life at all.

He hasn’t even a good house to live. So to give his family a qualitative as well as quantitative life, he decided to leave the country to earn some handsome amount of money. To live a life of his dream and to earn money, he applied Visa for Qatar to work there.
He was doing well there and everything was going well but suddenly something happened for which he couldn’t find a way not to return to India.

The sudden outbreak of Corona was increasing devastative manner. The whole world was totally affected with the Novel corona virus (COVID-19). The no of death was increasing day by day and the no of affected people was also simultaneously increasing. Everybody was just terrified by this heinous disease.

Nobody was moving outside as per the instructions of the respective government and a lock down like situation was also created. School, colleges, malls, and public gathering places were strictly banned for uncertain period to tackle this unwanted guest.

Amidst of this situation, Ramu returned to his native country. In accordance to him, if he returns to his village, then there would be no problem but his thoughts were wrong. According to the government rules and regulations, the persons returning from outside of India had to register with in 4 days .

He and his family were totally unaware of this because they stayed at a distant place from other people and they had no television or smartphone. Including this, neither they were getting newspapers nor they were advanced enough to know all those things about the recent happenings in this terrestrial world.
Before arriving India, he was tested for COVID -19 at Qatar airport and the test report was negative there. When he arrived at India, he was again tested for COVID-19 and test result was negative again but the real problem arose when he reached at his village. His family members were unaware of all the regulations of the state government.

He reached at the Galugaon railway station and moved towards the village but something unpredictable were waiting at the outside of the village. Actually, the villagers had got the information of Ramu’s return from Qatar. He was eagerly waiting to meet his parents and sisters but some of the elder people and young guys stopped him at the outside of the village.
Till then, neither he had visited his parents nor his parents were informed about this incident. The village people called the police officers and the officers informed the local medical and the test was carried out and for the precautionary measure, he was sent to quarantine for 15 days.
The village people were forcing the officers to take his parents as well. The officers denied this as Ramu was neither in contact nor his family met him. So they denied of these fact and left the village arranging a quarantine for Ramu.

But the villagers were blindly believing the fact that his parents were infected with Corona. The villagers had come across a rumor which was being spread vastly that the family member of a corona virus affected persons are also affected. Though, Ramu was not confirmed for that particular disease and he had not met his parents after returning from abroad but the uneducated people of the village were believing that Ramu was quarantined because he was a corona virus infected patient and they were thinking that his family members were also infected with that contagious corona virus.
Highly spread rumor was injecting poisons in the mind of the people and they were getting more infected than COVID. They denied all the people to mix with the potter family and his family members were denied to move in the village. They were not allowed to buy vegetables ,fruits or any requisite materials from the shops.

Ramu’s mother was crying thinking about his son and his family. Their life had turned into hell. She was cursing the village people for this and crying for her situation and praying the God to resolve all these ongoing predicaments.
After 15 days , Ramu returned home. Everybody was looking at him in a very strange manner .

His looks were clearly indicating about their feelings for him. He could clearly understand that the village people didn’t want him to return to the village. He kept his head downward and with a sad face, he reached at home. He was deeply impacted by the behavior of villagers.
When he reached at home, there was the scarcity of food in his house. This was only due to the restrictions created by the villagers. Firstly, he thought to lodge a complaint at the police station against the villagers but again give a thought and stopped himself to do this.
One day, the villagers arrived at his home and begged to forgive them for their nuisance. They told Ramu that they were deeply influenced by the highly spreaded rumors and they came to know that the rumor creator had been arrested by the police. That was the reason that they had come to them.

So , friends !!!! Corona is a disease which is declared as an epidemic but the rumors which are being spread about the disease are totally baseless. Currently, we are in a situation when we have to stay strong. Don’t let the rumors create problem. Let’s be strong to stand against this epidemic Corona to eradicate from it’s root.
